Welcome to the CAP Score
Redefining Wrestling Performance Metrics

The Competitive Advancement & Progress (CAP) Score is a system designed to revolutionize how we measure wrestling performance. Developed by NC Wrestling United, the CAP Score provides an objective, data-driven way to evaluate and track wrestler progress at high-stakes national tournaments.

What is the CAP Score?

The CAP Score is a comprehensive metric that evaluates key performance indicators such as All-American placements, quality wins, tournament progression, and win-loss records. It goes beyond the basic scoreboard to showcase a wrestler’s ability to thrive under pressure and against top competition.

Why Use the CAP Score?

  • Track Progress: Monitor individual and team growth over time.
  • Identify Strengths and Areas for Improvement: Pinpoint what’s working and where to focus efforts.
  • Standardize Performance Evaluation: Set consistent benchmarks for comparing wrestlers across events.

Benefits of the CAP Score

  • Insightful Analysis: Understand how key metrics like quality wins and bracket progression shape overall performance.
  • Motivation and Growth: Provide wrestlers with clear goals and a roadmap for improvement.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Equip coaches and teams with actionable insights to refine strategies and training plans.

The Ultimate Metric Driving Wrestling Excellence and Transforming Performance Evaluation

The CAP Score isn’t just a measurement tool—it’s a game-changer for wrestling development. By offering a detailed snapshot of performance, the system empowers athletes and coaches to pursue excellence and achieve measurable results. It also fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing among wrestling programs, making it a valuable resource for teams nationwide.

How it Works

  • All-American Placement: Highlights top-tier achievements (35% weight).
  • Quality Wins: Rewards victories over highly ranked opponents (25% weight).
  • Tournament Progression: Tracks depth of advancement in both championship and consolation brackets (25% combined weight).
  • Win-Loss Records: Accounts for consistency and resilience (10% weight).
  • Quality Losses: Recognizes the competitive challenge of losses to highly ranked opponents (5% weight).

Final scores are adjusted by a Weight Class Difficulty Factor to account for bracket size, ensuring fair and equitable rankings.
