NC State’s Tyler Tracy becomes one of the first Jamaican wrestlers to reach the podium at U23 Pan Ams

QUERÉTARO, Mexico — Tyler Tracy, a North Carolina native and member of the NC State Wolfpack, secured a landmark result this week at the 2025 U23 Pan American Championships. Competing at 74 kilograms for the Jamaican National Team, Tracy earned a bronze medal—one of the highest finishes ever for Jamaica on the U23 continental stage.

Representing both his collegiate program and Jamaican heritage, Tracy showcased high-level offense throughout the tournament. He stormed into the semifinals with back-to-back technical falls, outscoring his opponents 21-0 across the first two rounds. After falling in the semifinal to Mexico’s Rafael Garcia Morales, Tracy rebounded in dominant fashion, pouring on 16 points to defeat Chile’s Arnoldo Proboste in the bronze medal match.

The podium finish is a significant milestone for Jamaica, a nation steadily building its presence in the international wrestling community. Tracy’s performance adds a new chapter to the island’s athletic history—this time on the wrestling mat.
